Job summary

Orchard is in the early stages of developing its Procurement function and is looking for a highly self-motivated individual to help drive the Procurement organization along its transformational journey. This role will be primarily responsible for sourcing and procurement related activities for Orchard’s Clinical Trials. This role will bring immediate positive results to the company, especially as Orchard expands its already robust gene therapy pipeline. This role will also be the first Procurement position co-located with the R&D & Clinical Trials teams. Procurement will rely on this individual to represent Procurement and strengthen collaborative ties with these teams. This is an opportunity to help build a world class Procurement function within a leading gene therapy company in the biotech industry.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic category management including category strategy development, supplier negotiations, contracting, risk management, ongoing supplier management, etc.. as it relates to indirect categories including Commercial, IT, Finance, HR, Regulatory & Business Development.
  • Owner of procure to pay processes & ERP strategies with a focus on requisitioning and approvals with the potential to lead global procurement operations teams.
  • Work closely with Technical Operations to evaluate and execute long term ERP requirements as the company insources aspects of manufacturing and materials management
  • Establish best in class sourcing strategies for indirect categories including rate cards, service level agreements, supply base consolidation, catalogs, etc.
  • Work with senior management to bring forward and evaluate insourcing/outsourcing opportunities related to indirect categories
  • Demonstrate and utilize a procurement process that engages stakeholders, aligns business objectives and ensures supply continuity.
  • Liaise with, consult and collaborate with all appropriate functions
  • Analyze global market trends and communicate opportunities to Executive Management with recommended action plans.

Requirements

Must Haves:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in global sourcing & procurement roles
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Modeling, Supplier Relationship Management, Specification Management, etc.
  • Ability to manage strategic and complex supplier relationships with executive level visibility.
  • Proficient in strategic procurement activities including RFQ’s, “Should Cost” modeling, market analysis, Make vs. Buy,
  • Demonstrated ability to map and improve complex processes
  • Procurement excellence or indirect procurement experience required

Desirables:

  • Experience in implementing ERP or Procure to Pay systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Biotech or Biologics experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of FDA, EMA and other regulatory bodies framework and approval processes including cGMP, FMD/ISO & Quality Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to business partner with senior leaders in indirect categories
