Job summary

The Associate Director, Technical Operations Finance will be the first finance leader for Orchard Therapeutics California sites.

The successful candidate will have an extensive Finance background and experience supporting a Manufacturing/Technical Operations organization. They will partner with Technical Operations leadership to draw out business insight to drive sound decision-making while maintaining a robust internal controls environment and helping the Finance organization prepare for rapid business growth.

This role is based in the Menlo Park offices of Orchard Therapeutics. Some travel to offices in Boston and Europe may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Interact/collaborate with various business partners and stakeholders to ensure appropriate/timely progression of routine work and projects
  • Support critical accounting processes and assist in the monthly and quarterly close
  • Deliver routine financial reporting and associated business insight to drive sound financial and strategic decision-making
  • Working with the Technical Operations Leadership Team, develop the annual operating plan and the long-range strategic plan
  • Key point of communication with senior leaders for controlling, strategic support, reporting, and planning as well as taking an active leadership role in the Finance community
  • Understand all aspects of Cost Accounting including inventory valuation, variance analyses, yield measurement, and standard cost maintenance
  • Monitor and account for all capital projects, including the timely capture of all project commitments and assist managers in performing project and/or capital expenditure cost analysis and justification as needed
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls

Job requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in progressively complex financial leadership roles
  • Experience with both clinical and commercial manufacturing
  • Experience working in a matrixed, global environment; people management experience preferred
  • Experience working for a multi-national biopharmaceutical or healthcare company preferred
  • Accounting experience preferred
  • Strong English language skills (reading and written)
  • Strong computer literacy is essential, particularly across all Microsoft Office packages and Oracle systems
  • BA/BS in Finance or Engineering (or other relevant field), MBA or advanced degree preferred
